There are three main furniture/interiors trade shows on throughout the year, SaloniMobili in Milan, Maison Objet in Paris & IMM in Cologne. Milan is the largest, most prestigious, & the best to see the coming trends over the next few years (SaloniMobili is at least a years ahead of the Italian market, as the contemporary furniture shown there usually takes around six months to a year to become available for sale. but in terms of trends this show is around two to three years ahead of the mainstream.

Two big colours last year were dove grey a beautiful, versatile pale brown/grey that goes with everything & is incredibly easy to look at, &canaletto walnut, an Italian mid colour wood with a slightly (very slightly) grey look about it. It’s a soft walnut, looks great with dove grey, brights, neutrals, white, & black! It replaces the previously ubiquitous wenge, a very, very dark oak which looks almost black. While the producers offer warranty for different models of windows, the majority of people buying those windows are not so convinced that those models would last for 30 years or more.
