There are three main furniture/interiors trade shows on throughout the year, SaloniMobili in Milan, Maison Objet in Paris & IMM in Cologne. Milan is the largest, most prestigious, & the best to see the coming trends over the next few years (SaloniMobili is at least a years ahead of the Italian market, as the contemporary furniture shown there usually takes around six months to a year to become available for sale. but in terms of trends this show is around two to three years ahead of the mainstream.

Contemporary Furniture

Two big colours last year were dove grey a beautiful, versatile pale brown/grey that goes with everything & is incredibly easy to look at, &canaletto walnut, an Italian mid colour wood with a slightly (very slightly) grey look about it. It’s a soft walnut, looks great with dove grey, brights, neutrals, white, & black! It replaces the previously ubiquitous wenge, a very, very dark oak which looks almost black. This year saw more mid coloured woods (wood is back, organic & natural are BIG trends), & more pale secondary colours like sage green & taupe. Soft, flowing shapes &well-crafted with a little interesting texture were strong too. So keep an eye on the Italian contemporary furniture collections released online this year as they are the future, & if you buy them now you will be well ahead of the pack!

Storm windows are pretty simple products. Installed over existing windows, they shield the home from wind, rain, hail and snow. They also provide added energy conservation by their insulating effects. Temporary storm windows are a good idea for people who want the benefits of a storm window without permanently altering the look of their home. Temporary storm windows are easy to install so do-it-yourself inclined homeowner or using a handyman is all that is needed.

Getting a quote from a temporary storm window producer in the area is a breeze if you use the internet. There are a number of resources for the homeowner interested in getting information on the right type of temporary storm window for their need. One of the things you’ll need to determine is if a stationary storm window or one that can open to allow for ventilation is right for you. If you live in an area where there is ongoing extreme cold and wind chill during the winter, a stationary window might work fine as there will likely be little need to open the window ever. In addition, since it has no opening parts, it is generally more energy efficient. If in milder climates or if you live in an area with wider temperature swings, you might benefit from installing a temporary storm window that opens. With this option, you’ll choose from a double or triple track window. Both easily open, but the triple track has more opening options and generally has better sealing, which better keeps drafts at bay.

Temporary storm windows come in aluminum, vinyl and wood. Aluminum has the highest durability and is therefore the priciest. With temporary storm windows however, one should not just base the decision on price alone. Because these storm windows will be put up and taken down regularly, it may benefit to pay a little more up-front to get enhanced durability. Vinyl is also a strong option, though and has the benefit of a low price. Wood is less common with temporary storm windows, but if you are looking to match a certain look for your home, wood might be the most appropriate option.

For those that want added energy efficiency and protection during cold weather months, temporary storm windows are a good idea. They go up quickly, when you need them and easily come down when the weather warms.

The threat of the Chinese fakes

The Chinese cheap products flooded almost any market of the world, and we can talk about the local markets for windows and doors. Just browse the offer of the different firms making house casements, and you will see that the majority of materials are imported from China and assembled in our country. While the producers offer warranty for different models of windows, the majority of people buying those windows are not so convinced that those models would last for 30 years or more. However, you do not have any alternative, as the local producers of windows can be numbered on the fingers of a hand, and this is why the products manufactured by those companies are also expensive.

It is not even hard to create a line for insulated windows, but it seems like the biggest problem for the local companies is to find qualified personnel. While the Asian companies managed to find new methods to produce cheap insulated windows, the local companies were not able to speculate the competitive advantage they had several years ago, so they are now struggling with the increased competition consisting of cheap but also bad quality insulated windows. It is easily understood that our market has to accept the conditions of the importers, and with the increased demand for those types of windows, it seems like the problem would become more important in the future.

Some local glass manufacturers understood the tendencies of the market, so they are trying to import the technologies needed to create complete assembly lines for insulated windows. However, the initial costs are huge, and only a few local companies with a huge financial power are able to conduct such an initiative.

Until we are able to buy totally original and qualitative insulated windows from the local producers, we will have to be happy with whatever the market offers. If you cannot find the authentic windows, at least try to find a well-known manufacturer with some good prices, and ask for an extensive warranty for the windows, especially when it comes to glass and insulated frames, but also ask for a discount if you have a huge house with lots of windows that must be replaced.

There are many great ways to update a home and putting in new windows is one of those ways. The nice thing about putting in new windows is that is what most people look at when they drive past a house so your house will look new without having to do that much. If there is one thing that I do know about updating a house with windows it is to use long lasting trends instead of up and coming trends because those normally don’t last very long.

This is why I highly recommend that you update your home with aluminum windows.
One of the nice things about updating your home with aluminum windows is that they will last a lot longer than other windows will and this means that you will get more out of your money. Most people think that putting in new windows is going to cost a lot but that is not the case with aluminum windows. You need to understand that aluminum windows are very popular which means that their prices are always good. Trust me, when you update your windows you need to go with aluminum.

Another very important reason to update your home with aluminum windows is because they are very easily customizable. What a lot of people don’t realize is that you can easily paint aluminum so that it matches perfectly with your house. Another great thing about aluminum windows is that you can change the color you put on the window frame whenever you want to, all you have to do is sand the frame and repaint it.

Updating a home is pretty easy to do and replacing old outdated windows is a great way to do it. Something that I would do if I were on a budget would be to do just a few windows at a time because updating the windows to your entire house is something that can cost quite a bit. All you need to understand is that the front windows should be the first ones done and if you have an upstairs then those should be the last ones done. If you can do this then you will have your house looking new in no time at all.
